Dating safety
Active dates are great first dates. A few habits make them safer too. RallyDate can’t run background checks on members, so please look out for yourself and each other.
While you chat
- Keep the conversation in RallyDate until you feel comfortable. It's where block and report work.
- Protect your personal details: your home address, workplace, daily routes, financial information and passwords. Be careful with photos that show where you live or the routes you run and ride.
- Look for the verified badge, and ask for a quick video call before meeting if anything feels off.
- Take your time. You never owe anyone a reply, a meeting or a photo.
Red flags and scams
Report anyone who:
- asks for money, gift cards, crypto or help with an “emergency”, however convincing the story;
- pushes an investment or trading opportunity;
- wants to move to another app straight away, or asks for verification codes or passwords;
- won't video call, keeps cancelling, or their story or photos don't add up;
- pressures you for intimate photos, or to meet somewhere private.
Never send money or financial information to someone you met on RallyDate.
Before you meet
- Pick a busy public place: a public court, a popular trail head, a park run, a climbing gym or a café after a workout. Not someone's home or car.
- Tell a friend who you're meeting, where and when, and share your live location with them.
- Get there and back on your own, so you can leave whenever you want.
- Keep your phone charged and with you.
When you're active together
- Choose an activity that suits both your levels, and say so if the pace or route is too much.
- For first dates, skip remote hikes, long rides or open water. Save them for when you know each other, stick to well-used routes in daylight, and bring water and a charged phone.
- Bring your own gear, and look after your drink and belongings afterwards.
- Trust your instincts. It's always okay to end a date early.
Consent and respect
Consent must be clear and can be withdrawn at any time. “No”, silence, hesitation and an unmatch all mean no. If someone isn't interested, respect it and move on. Read our Community Guidelines for what isn't allowed.
Your safety tools in the app
- Report: tap ⋯ on a profile or long-press a message or photo message, then Report. Reporting also blocks the person. Our team reviews every report.
- Block: hides you from each other everywhere, instantly and silently.
- Unmatch: ends the chat for both of you. You can still report afterwards.
- Verify: verify your own profile with a selfie in Settings, and look for the badge on others.
- Approximate location: others only ever see a distance like “< 5 km”.
- Safety center: these tips, any time, from your Profile tab.
If something goes wrong
If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first.
Then report the person in the app, or email support@rallydate.app with “Urgent” in the subject. Tell us what happened; we review it, take action against the account, and can preserve information for the police if you decide to make a report. If you've been sexually assaulted or harmed, local support services and sexual assault helplines can help, whether or not you go to the police.
